A series of five images depicting typical English Rural life in the 21st Century. The haphazard symmetry of the hedgerows, fields and trees on a distant hillside perfectly capture the essence of managed landscapes.Although these images were all taken in May 2019, they could easily have been taken 3 or more centuries previously as the scenery has changed little since then. Inspired by Constable's paintings of English Rural Life in the 18th Century these images could not be anywhere but England. They are located in the Blackdown Hills on the Devon/Somerset borders. This second image is more panoramic and includes the wider scene with fencing and sheep pens in the foreground and trees lining the distant hilltop.

The village war memorial and St Mary’s Church at East Bergholt in Suffolk, England. The church tower was started in 1525 but was never finished and the bells were then housed in a wooden ‘bell cage’ which, despite it being intended as a temporary structure, is still used and lies within the churchyard. East Bergholt is the birthplace of the famous landscape painter, John Constable.
